WHO 75 healing arts concert | Victoria Hall, Geneva
The 'WHO 75 Healing arts concert: A musical 'merci' to the people of Geneva' was held on 8 April 2023 at Victoria Hall in Geneva, Switzerland to commemorate and celebrate the WHO's 75th Anniversary. The concert followed on from the launch of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, a collaborative effort between the WHO Regional Office for Europe, the Steinhardt School at New York University (NYU) Community Jameel and CULTURUNNERS. The lab aims to amplify scientific research on how the arts can improve human health and wellbeing and represents the first major arts and health initiative in the history of the WHO.
Performances included musical, theatre and dance pieces by the artists Renée Fleming, Pretty Yende, Charlie Siem, Anastasia Voltchok, Monique Mot, The Scottish Ballet, The Global Scrub Choir and Christopher Bailey co-director of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab and arts and health lead, WHO. Remarks were presented by Marie Barbey-Chapuis, mayor of Geneva; Ruth Dreifuss, former President of Switzerland; and Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of WHO. Nisha Sajnani from New York University, Steinhardt School and Rana Sidani, WHO, hosted the evening.
