A decade of empowering change: Celebrating 10 years of improving lives through evidence in Southeast Asia
The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) Southeast Asia (SEA)celebrated its tenth anniversary with a gala dinner in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 18 July, 2023. The event was attended by various stakeholders, including government representatives, academics, local and international development practitioners, NGOs and private sector members.
During the decade of its work, J-PAL SEA has impacted over 100 million lives through programmes/policies and developed a cadre of local researchers and policy practitioners in development economics including 41 co-authors for research studies. Partnerships with government, NGOs, donors, research orgs and private sector have been instrumental along with J-PAL’s own initiative in increasing evidence-based policy making. Going forward, it aims to expand research areas including the environment, gender, education and social protection and reach beyond SEA.
