Bringing together researchers and policymakers: New clean air and water labs for climate solutions

The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), with support from Community Jameel, is launching the Clean Air and Water Labs, led by J-PAL MENA and South Asia regional offices. The labs will partner with government agencies, policymakers and researchers to develop evidence-based solutions to improve air and water systems in regions that are severely impacted by the global air and water crisis.

The labs will work to scale evidence-based policies and programme design at the local, state and national levels, with the aim of serving nearly 260 million people.

"There is no time to waste investing in solutions that do not achieve their desired effects," states Iqbal Dhaliwal, global executive director of J-PAL. "By co-generating rigorous real-world evidence with researchers, policymakers can have the information they need to dedicate resources to scaling up solutions that have been shown to be effective.”
