How to help high schoolers prepare for the rise of artificial intelligence
The MIT Jameel Clinic's inaugural summer programme addressed complex questions surrounding the use of AI in healthcare settings over a 10-day course involving 51 students from primarily Boston-area schools.
The participating students explored core topics such as introduction to Python, clinical AI and drug discovery and went on field trips to local institutions such as the Museum of Science, Boston, Massachusetts General Hospital, Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Amgen. Provided at no cost, the summer programme aimed to enable a diverse range of students to access university-level teaching, interact with MIT faculty through inspirational lectures and develop a deeper understanding of AI's potential and the potential of their own futures.
