J-PAL South Asia: Evidence-informed policy

The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab South Asia (J-PAL SA), under the leadership of executive director, Shobhini Mukerji, collaborates with state governments in India to evaluate policies and help them adopt new, evidence-informed approaches to policymaking. The Chandler Foundation, an international foundation supporting social investments and partnerships to catalyse economic opportunity, is resourcing J-PAL SA to launch a Governance Unit, which will strengthen how the organisation equips leaders and supports governments to adapt evidence-informed policymaking. By doing so, The Chandler Foundation looks to support J-PAL SA as it works with governments to improve people’s lives and implement mechanisms, using technology, accountability and better execution, to strengthen governance in India.
