Katabi earns SIGCOMM Lifetime Achievement Award
Dina Katabi, principal investigator at the MIT Jameel Clinic, received the SIGCOMM Lifetime Achievement Award for her work in wireless data transmission.
The co-founder of Emerald Innovations, Katabi's recent work involves designing wireless medical devices that use AI and radio signals. She developed a device that monitors the movements of patients with Parkinson's disease while they are at home, tracking indicators such as speed or gait via radio signals reflected off the patient's body, which are transmitted to the wireless device. Dina also worked on the development of an AI model that detects Parkinson's disease through analysis of an individual's breathing patterns.
