الجامعية الأمريكية بالقاهرة تناقش التغيرات المناخية في الدول العربية
The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab Middle East and North Africa (J-PAL MENA) at the American University in Cairo and Community Jameel, together with the Arab Water Council, Egypt's Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development convened a conference titled 'Partnership development for climate adaptation in Arab states' in Cairo on 26-27 September 2023.
The two-day conference brings together 250 policymakers, donors, researchers and practitioners to strengthen collaborative efforts in climate adaptation and promote regional alignment of climate goals. J-PAL research insights will inform practical solutions to drive investments towards evidence-based climate solutions. In addition to panels focused on agriculture and food security, water quality and management, green skills and clean energy, interactive sessions encourage knowledge sharing, networking and opportunities to engage with climate negotiators representing Arab countries at COP28.
Ahmed Elsayed, executive director of J-PAL MENA, and George Richards, director of Community Jameel, will speak at the opening ceremony along with Hani Sewilam, Egypt's Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hala Al Said, Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Mahmoud Abu Zeid, president of the Arab water Council and Ahmad Dallal, president of AUC.
يعقد معمل عبداللطيف جميل لمكافحة الفقر في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، مؤتمرا إقليميا بعنوان «تطوير الشراكة من أجل التكيف مع تغير المناخ في الدول العربية،» بالجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة، والمجلس العربي للمياه، والمعهد القومي للحوكمة والتنمية المستدامة، ووزارة التخطيط والتنمية الاقتصادية بمصر يعد المؤتمر بمثابة منصة لعرض حلولًا عملية لتشجيع تطوير الشراكات بين أصحاب المصلحة فيما يتعلق بتبني سياسات وإجراءات لمواجه الآثار السلبية لتغير المناخ، وذلك يومي الثلاثاء، 26 سبتمبر والأربعاء 27 سبتمبر 2023.
سيقوم المؤتمر- الذي يستمر لمدة يومين – بالاستفادة من الرؤى البحثية والدراسات السابقة التي قام بها معمل عبداللطيف جميل لمكافحة الفقر لإثراء أجندة التكيف مع المناخ مع التركيز العملي على الطريقة التي يمكن بها توجيه الاستثمارات في المنطقة العربية نحو حلول التكيف مع تغير المناخ المستندة إلى الأدلة.
سعى المؤتمر، الذي يجمع حوالي 250 مشاركاً من صناع السياسات والجهات المانحة والممارسين والباحثين، إلى تسريع وتيرة الجهود التشاركية المبذولة في مجال التكيف مع المناخ ولهذا يعد بمثابة منصة لجميع المشاركين لتبادل خبراتهم وتوصياتهم، والمساهمة في تأسيس مشروعات التكيف مع المناخ في المنطقة العربية.
