Fadel Abid: Sensing with purpose
Fadel Adib, principal investigator within the Abdul Latif Jameel Water and Food Systems Lab (J-WAFS) and assistant professor, MIT's department of electrical engineering and computer science and Media Lab, uses wireless technologies to sense the world in new ways, taking aim at sweeping problems such as food insecurity, climate change and access to health care. His research has even reached the White House, where in August 2015, alongside his thesis supervisor and MIT Jameel Clinic principal investigator, Dina Katabi, Fadel showcased a wireless device that uses Wi-Fi signals to track an individual’s movements to President Barack Obama.
