Anastasia Koorn

Anastasia Koorn is an American mezzo-soprano and 2023 recipient of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation-Community Jameel Scholarship at the Royal College of Music. She is under the tutelage of Tim Evans-Jones, Simon Lepper and Caroline Dowdle. She has also received the Ian Donald Wilson Memorial Scholarship and is supported by the Josephine Baker Trust and the Drake Calleja Trust.

Anastasia is an honour’s graduate of the University of Michigan, where she obtained a dual degree in vocal performance and choral music education with a minor in German, studying under soprano Dr. Louise Toppin.  

Anastasia’s recent performances include the title role in 'Serse', Die Knusperhexe in ‘Hänsel und Gretel’, Cherubino in ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’, Bradamante in ‘Alcina’, Phoebe in ‘Yeomen of the Guard’, Felice in ‘Minette Fontain’, Agnes in ‘Baby Shower’ and the title role in ‘Iolanthe’. Anastasia has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House as well as venues in Chicago, Miami, Berlin, Saluzzo and London.

Anastasia’s performances with RCM include Cupid in ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’, Maman / La Taste Chinoise / La Libellule in ‘L’enfant et les sortilèges’, Nancy in 'Albert Herring’ and Hänsel in 'Hänsel und Gretel'. During the summer of 2023, she attended the Masterclass di alto perfezionamento, offered by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation in Caermino, Italy.

Anastasia’s future engagements include the role of Praskowia in ‘Die lustige Witwe’ with the RCM Opera Studio in March 2024.
