Soprano, 2022 Andrea Bocelli Foundation-Community Jameel Scholar at the Royal College of Music

South Korean soprano Seonwoo Lee is the 2022 recipient of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation - Community Jameel Scholarship at the Royal College of Music, where she completed her Artist Diploma. Praised by critics for her "phenomenal control” (Opera Canada) and “a lyric soprano of extraordinary focus and clarity” (Opera News), Seonwoo is currently a member of the Opernstudio der Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich) for the 2023/2024 season. She holds a Master’s from The Juilliard School and a Bachelor's degree with high distinction from Seoul National University. A versatile artist, Seonwoo offers a wide repertoire from baroque to contemporary, having performed across Europe, America, Canada, and Asia. Seonwoo made her debut in the roles of “Le Feu” and “Le Rossignol” in Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortilèges, and as “La Fata Azzurra” in Respighi’s La bella dormente nel bosco at the Royal College of Music in 2023. Her New York debut was in 2021 as “Proserpina” in Rossi’s L’Orfeo at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Other highlights include La Damoiselle élue at Alice Tully Hall with Maestra Barbara Hannigan, Lincoln Center’s “Restart Stages” series, the "Verdi Opera Gala Concert" with Korean National Opera, and the prestigious “New Artist Concert” by Chosun Ilbo.
