Harnessing the power of science and technology for global emergencies | Future Resilience Forum 2024

As global emergencies - from pandemics and natural disasters to armed conflicts and climate crises - become increasingly complex an interlinked, new technologies and innovative strategies are critical tools in helping to predict, pre-empt and stabilise crises before they escalate.

Despite advancements in fields such as AI, quantum computing, epidemiology, data analytics and climate science, a significant gap exists between cutting-edge innovations and the rapid deployment of solutions in crisis environments.

On 14 October 2024, Community Jameel convenes a panel at the Future Resilience Forum to explore how emerging technologies and scientific advances can mitigate the threats posed by humanitarian emergencies - in terms of both human life and broader insecurity - and the challenges faced in bridging the gap between technological innovation and humanitarian responses, including financing, ethics and the need for better coordination.

The panel is facilitated by George Richards, director, Community Jameel, and includes:
