Co-founder and co-director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and holder of the 'poverty and public policy' chair at the Collège de France, Esther Duflo is organizing a symposium to mark J-PAL's 20th anniversary open to the public on Thursday and Friday, which will be an opportunity to take stock of the fight against poverty over the past 30 years. Based on several indicators, it shows that the results are rather positive: extreme poverty has declined. 'It has been halved in 30 years, as has maternal and infant mortality', says Esther Duflot.
