Panel | Policy Lessons from Randomized Evaluations in Governance, Conflict, and Corruption
Alison Fahey, director of policy and communications at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), provides opening remarks at the event, 'New frontiers: Policy lessons from randomized evaluations in governance, conflict, and corruption,' in which she describes J-PAL's novel methodology for informing evidence-based policy.
Alison says, "The core of what we're doing together with the researchers in our network and policymakers, like many of you who are gathered here today, is to identify research gaps within these very broad themes, what are the questions that policymakers would love to know and to understand and to have evidence on to help guide decision-making. We then run a competitive process to fund research to actually generate evidence on the active programmes that are designed to essentially be solutions to try to address some of these issues and to understand what works and what doesn't and why. We then, as J-PAL and IPA together with academic affiliates in our network, synthesise this research and work to disseminate it to policy."
