Transcript

John Mutua: My PhD is examining livestock consumption in East Africa through the use of earth observation techniques and secondary data that has been collected but stored in different sources, which I am currently compiling into answers.

We developed a small mobile application so that when I visit farmers, we can have conversations about their feeding practices, and I can record that information in the mobile application.

I see myself using data and technology to advise farmers when they need to change their livestock management practices, provide them with information at the right time so they can act, and make them aware of the choices available to them.

This research or these experiments have only been conducted in a few places due to the amount of resources required. I find myself in the right place to achieve my objectives because I have the right support and various experts and skills at my disposal to consult, ask questions, and get the correct answers.
