J-PAL MENA at AUC to co-host a regional conference on climate adaptation in Arab States
Community Jameel, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab Middle East at AUC (J-PAL MENA), the Arab Water Council, Egypt's Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development will host a two-day conference titled, 'Partnership Development for Climate Adaptation in the Arab States.' Regional stakeholders will convene for a series of panel discussions and interactive sessions to promote partnerships for robust climate policy, leveraging J-PAL insights about the effectiveness of randomised evaluations in shaping evidence-based policy. The conference will welcome 250 policymakers, donors, researchers and practitioners to catalyse collaborative efforts in regional climate adaptation through a series of panel discussions on themes including water management, food security, education and green skills, and interactive knowledge-sharing and networking sessions.
Ahmed Elsayed, executive director of J-PAL MENA at AUC and George Richards, director of Community Jameel are among the speakers at the conference's opening ceremony. Hala Alsaid, Egypt's Minister of Planning and Economic Development; Hani Sewillam, Egypt's Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources; Mahmoud Abu Zeid, president of Arab Water Council and Ahmed Dallal, president of AUC will also address conference participants as part of the event.
