Community Jameel has published a catalogue of works by the 2023 graduates of the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo. The pieces in the catalogue are the final projects of a cohort of 16 students of the two-year Jameel House in Cairo programme taught by The King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts.

Featuring 25 works, the catalogue showcases a wide range of traditional crafts and designs, drawing on inspiration from monuments in Cairo and works of Islamic art from around the world.

Mamdouh Sakr, programme director of the Jameel House in Cairo, writes in the foreword: “Since its beginning in 2009, the programme, which is a collaboration between the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, The King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts and Community Jameel, has offered training and education in traditional arts and crafts to more than 200 artists. Some of the alumni of the programme are now taking significant steps in establishing their own businesses, and hopefully, in a couple of years, Egypt’s art scene will be enriched by several of our graduates.”
